Subtle and multi-layered. Warm aromas suggesting juicy pome fruit, tobacco and notes of pepper set the tone, always accompanied by an omnipresent light spice. Vegetable notes complement the palate. Appears deep and elegant, soft and open. Is a bridge between the playfulness of young Veltliner and the profound complexity of the individual single vineyard interpretations. Ends round, harmonious and nutty.
Grüner Veltliner Schenkenbichl 2019, 1. ÖTW
Despite its protected exposure and usually quite warm conditions, the Schenkenbichl always delivers delicate and subtle wines. The reason for this lies in the soil, more precisely in the presence of various calcareous veins. Elegance is therefore combined with depth, crystalline coolness with power and dynamism. The aromas range from juicy yellow fruit to bright spice to clear and impressive minerals. The texture is cool and puristic, the finish is vital, powerful and lasting.
Grüner Veltliner Käferberg 2019, 1. ÖTW
Complex, profound and dynamic. Comes from a vintage that was incredibly hot, but thanks to a rainy May and a long ripening phase in autumn, it still has an incredible amount of temperament and liveliness. Has grapefruit, peach and rhubarb aromas on the nose, which are complemented by a strong spice and subtle smokiness. Powerful and profound, its body is supported by an astonishingly compact acid backbone. Delivers juicy and stimulating fruit notes far beyond the palate.
Riesling Steinmassl 2019, 1. ÖTW
Anyone who wants to know why we age our Erste Lage wines in barrels and bottles for five years before releasing them will get the definitive answer with the Riesling from Steinmassl 2019. In our opinion, the wine has the perfect inner balance, combining tension with calm and energy with substance. Complex on the nose, it suggests exotic spices, yellow fruit, salt and bright floral notes and offers a solid, supple but also straight-vertical structure on the palate.
Riesling as we want it: compact, taut and precise. Impresses on the nose with clear and inviting yellow fruit notes as well as subtle herbal and citrus aromas. Appears focused and compact on the palate. The base has a solid structure supported by a straightforward acidity. The texture is firm and juicy. Has strength and substance and yet is stimulating and agile. Ends gripping, fruity and long and has potential that we are also curious about.
Riesling Heiligenstein 2019, 1. ÖTW
The Heiligenstein Riesling consists of supposed opposites and yet forms a big unity. It is dynamic and calm, focused and open, powerful and subtle, pulsating and balanced. Its aromas are broad, citrus notes meet ripe peaches, fresh herbs meet crystalline minerals, acacia honey meets sage. Ends precisely, harmoniously and full of energy.
